ABOUT

Looking for projects! compact ones or longer ones (can´t do weekly). I still mask: immunocompromised. Looking for cautious musicians to form band projects. BREAK THE RULES. Ephemeral sonic experiences are my expertise= vocal performance. With a background in music-theatre, acting and choreography, for me music is a live event and a listening event. Did study (theatre) sound-art and radio at JLU Gießen, dance/choreo in Lyon. I am a member of a Pauline Oliveros deep listening group in London and associated with the Hackoustic <3 hacking instruments. Musiqué concrete, middle eastern storytelling, kraut & punk drive my creations of sonic song-landscapes. These I write and perform with my homemade instruments, other custom or new makers instruments, my own samples, field recordings and voice. Witnessing the planets destruction and empowerment are the creative motors of my creative endeavours right now.

Over the years I had several solo projects, three longterm duos, I did play in a few ensembles, have an occasional improv group. I also do voice over, radio works which I also produce and arrange. Made immersive concerts and sound installations. Collaborating is great. I loved organising weeklong music practise and exchange weeks. For bread and rent I work in intervals as a professional actress and dancer/ voiceartist in Germany.

I usually perform regularly live in both the UK and Germany and made appearances on Radio 3`s Late Junction, BBC introducing, Radiophrenia Glasgow... received a special mention from WISWOS woman in sound and the Francis Chagrin Award. All really small things. Proving your level of art in improv., communication and survival skills, lol.

Beside my own (tree-trunk-bass, passion-fruit shakers..) I play instruments by a few makers, some of which are represented here like the Flairdrum, mini-mu, microphonic soundbox and my self-build Yury Landmann 12-string Homeswinger and Steel On Foam. In the lockdown I started hacking kids toys and am about to put a Jaspers Wasp Synth together at home. I love creating for inventors and lockdown has highlightened the value of collaboration. I publish a very few albums with independent labels. I look for playing and singing in bands and form my own new collaborations. I learned Pro-Tools back than, am now polishing my ableton skills, did some producing courses (with female labels and instructors) as well as mixing, but these just for my interest and flexing knuckles, not a pro there.
On my instruments: although I learned classical guitar in my teens and played several instruments in school-orchestras for years, still I would consider myself as a non-instrumentalist. I can bearly strum guitar now but can listen and invent really well and just use them all however I like them. Love learning new skills.

I can offer creativity, vocals, electronics. Also if someone or some band locks for working on your appearance on stage, dramaturgy or a workshop enhancing your own presence on stage, stage direction or Choreo, group-creativity: hit me up!

Other stuff: am a feminist, neurodiverse, immunocompromised 5x Covid-vaccinated and enjoy strong female teams. Not here for any kind of dating, but professional.

It’s happening again. Back with some anachronistic adventures for the fall season of 2020. We are relieved that all of our spring lineup is available for this season premiere and to make up for cancelled events we will keep it coming through November and December, so tell your crew and come have a listen.Because of the current restrictions, things are a bit different in Schwankhalle. The capacity of the venue depends on the amount of units present, meaning; please come together as groups to get the ticket and fill out the contact form at the bar, wait for your friends so that we can fit more people in the seated area.doors 8 sound 9!¬ ERA GELDES
.. situated between postindustrial and experimental post-punk ERA GELDES is working with electronic and acoustic sounds alongside selfmade instruments. Her song-soundscapes leap in and out from storytelling to drone music with humour and noise. Through textured layering of fractured voice and sound, ERA GELDES creates a complex narrative, but one that always seeks to keep the listener in sight.

ERA GELDES made recent appearances on Radio 3’s Late Junction, Radiophrenia Glasgow, WaveFarm NY and received a special mention from WISWOS woman in sound.

We are mega happy to finally open our gangway for you again! But of course we also have to have a hygiene concept ready. Tickets are therefore limited, personalized and only available in advance to ensure the necessary distance and traceability. The offered seats (single and double seats) will be offered on site according to the principle “first-come, first choice” aka “the early bird gets the worm”. Our hygiene concept is provided bilingual in German and English. So, let’s go, order ticket(s) and in return get live sound. We are very looking forward to you!

Ongoing, online and as an audio walk in Berlin

On the 17th of this month it’s time for Skronkfest 2019, a festival in which a whole variety of artists, bands, music and sound makers come together for a eclectic day of good fun. With a super pact program planned it’s nuts to check out all the artists that will appear, still to gain a little insight and just get that little edge of excitement going to get us all in the mood, we here at YIKIS will take a little peek into some acts that flourish on the lineup.

In the main Live Room there will be open mic sessions starting from 4 o clock in the afternoon, making space and time for anyone who has something to say, some poetry to read or some spontanious actions to be held.. So you might as well want to come early to Skronkfest‘s venue which is The New River Studios in London. (very vital and important information right here!)

Inside in the cafe/bar there will be ERA GELDES playing at 5:10, a spectacular sound artist who will deliver a strong opening of the festival by probably delivering a very interesting artistic audio-scape with sounds that you have not yet explored before. A great example of her audio magic can be heard over here, where she uses sounds, stereo effects and her voice to drown us into an intimate world of stories and fantasy.
