SEEKINGBand to Join, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Keyboard, Background Singer.
Quickfire facts: I'll move anywhere in the world for the right band. Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, quick learner, health freak. I'm not technically particularly advanced playing instruments, but I have an expression, I have the basics, as you can hear on these recordings.
"A bottle of champagne and the London skyline
and a gig to go to off Brick Lane at the Pipeline
I'm ready to head down this path
Who knows where it will take us
But I'm telling you, my job is just a sideline"
A bit more long-winded: I'm looking for like-minded people / a serious project. I sing and play everything on these recordings. I've been doing the DIY thing for quite a while and organised the odd show, put out an album on my own label, had various line-ups, played a few shows in Europe, made videos, silkscreen printed t-shirts and designed websites, posters and badges, all with little success, but at least it was fun (some of the time)! But I keep going regardless of fun - after all, I want results.
I imagine a band that everybody loves being in and that can have an impact and a real and substantial audience. A complete band has great songs, a great sound, and a story, representing something, saying something, and they are in touch and understand their own appeal and care about their audience. Music, imagery, and stage craft are all important aspects, as is being committed, reliable, communicative, trustworthy, understanding and respectful. A full-on outfit won't get far unless everybody involved offers these basics.
The rewards are making and playing great music with great people, putting on great shows, and, one hopes, finding success in the process, becoming an established band, of which there are many out there, not all of them as great as one would perhaps assume. (Don't underestimate the power of the sale!)
I learn songs by ear, am comfortable with transposing songs and playing them in a different key (give me two takes) and am generally confident. I like a challenge, I like action. I don't give up easily, I find a way. I'm not genre-specific, I like a good song regardless of style. By the way, I don't insist on playing the tunes I've got up here.
One last thing. The reason I ticked my commitment level as "very" and not touring is that to tour, it'd have to pay a little bit. I have an exact minimum figure. But I have no kids and no mortgage. I'm a cheap but reliable runner. Also healthy as a nut, aspiring vegan, no drugs, no smoking, drink moderately. You could be forgiven for labelling me straight edge.
If this resonates with you, throw me a few lines. Maybe we get on like a house on fire and start work on a plan. Or maybe you already have a plan, and think I'll fit right in.
I don't pay for the pro membership anymore. Even when I did, nobody ever got in touch with me here about anything. I find that astounding. As of July 2020, I'm still looking.
