ABOUT

Are you tired of unreliable musicians who lack the skills, dedication, passion etc?

Here's the deal:

I'm an enthusiastic 29 year-old guitarist in the Edinburgh area looking to form a covers band who does the odd original. No sloppy playing, we will do the songs other bands are scared to, and do them properly. No egos - we can all pick several songs each. It's all about the music. I don't have this complex whereby I want to quit my job and tour the world. If we become the next big thing , then it happens. If not, I still like having a job! I almost studied music so you can see I'm heavily into it - I still practise regularly and have a deep passion for the "six-string", and for music in general.

It would be great to get a really tight band going, and to form an impressive on-stage image. None of this turning up in cords looking like a carrot and playing half-hearted! There must be others who are into the same sort of things... life is short, so get in touch! I've found it difficult to get anybody and I have actually seriously considered relocating to Los Angeles where the music scene is a lot more vibrant. I hope it doesn't come to that just yet!

I have also had some singing lessons and would not be scared to do backing vocals. I just love music and want to get out there and play it! I've been playing 14 years (I know all the theory), I'm not run-of-the-mill, I've done some live playing but it's been a while - let's do something colossal. No endless pointless solos or out-of-time playing - just self-contained bundles of musical excellence! Get in touch!

P.S. I have links to videos and 44 original songs online, but I'd rather just meet and play!

I just saw you have to pay approx £10 a month just to contact others on here!? Contact me on engineergraduate1@

Influences

Undoubtedly my main influence was always Guns N' Roses (I could play every one of their songs at one point, note-for-note), followed by Extreme (who can resist "Play With Me", that classic song featured in the Bill & Ted film?) and then several other bands of a similar nature. Guitar virtuosos like Bumblefoot, Vai, Eklundh are like fois gras whereas G N' R is like pizza. Fois grois appeals to the select few, whereas everybody loves and wants a bit of pizza! I want pizza...

G N' R, Extreme, Van Halen, Faith No More, Skid Row, Poison, Michael Jackson, Warrant, Vai, Satriani, Bumblefoot, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Dire Straits, Queen, Alanis Morisette, Racer X, ZZ Top, Ugly Kid Joe, Slash's Snakepit, Velvet Revolver, Radiohead, Muse, Def Leppard, ACDC, Airbourne, System of a Down, Robert Palmer, Chris Isaak, Aerosmith, Motle Crue, Kim Wilde, Bon Jovi, David Bowie, Vicente Amigo, Paco De Lucia, System of a Down, Muse etc!

You can see it's more veering toward 80s-type stadium-rock... I'm into the "whole-sound" - there has to be the thumping & tuneful bass, great vocals, in-time and interesting drums and a little flash guitar. The entire 80s music scene to me was the best thing that ever happened - all of the excitement, the excesses, the passion and players who wrote their own songs, the musicality of it all, the imagery - just fantastic.

EQUIPMENT

I used to have a lot of guitars and recording equipment but sold most of it a while back. I still have some good guitars and can always get other equipment if this thing actually happens.

I have more than ten plectrums and two guitar straps ;D
