We are currently trying to develop a free music group around Berwick-upon-Tweed. So far we are a duo of Adam who plays amazing sax and cello, and me who plays guitar and harmonica. We really need a free drummer/ percussionist. Get in touch if you want to give it a go. We're talking about Derek Bailey, Last Exit, Sonny Sharrock, but we're not that good! So if you would like to learn with us how to play free improvisation, well get in touch.
I am a songwriter and harmonica player, and I also play guitar particularly bottleneck. I can sing because as a songwriter I have had to learn, but I wouldn't call myself a singer. Many of the songs I write, and sing, are in the blues idiom. But I don't necessarily try and sound like past blues masters. I am also a poet and I make electronic sound pieces that fall somewhere between musique concrete and sound poetry (some of these can also be heard on Bandcamp if that is your sort of thing). So I have quite advanced recording and editing skills. I started off making this stuff with reel to reel tape recorders but nowadays I use dk
digital editing. I'm interested in collaborating musically with anyone, as it can be more interesting to work across styles rather than sticking within them.

Influences
My fondest loves are pre 1960 blues and free jazz, but I listen to a very wide variety of music. As a harmonic player I aspire to Junior Wells, Sonny Boy Williamson II (and I), Big Walter Horton, Carlos del Junco, Winslow Yerxa, Doc Watson and Peg Leg Sam.

EQUIPMENT
An embarrassment of different harmonicas and various acoustic and electric guitars. Logic Pro 9. To add effects to live harmonica I use a Line 6 Pod and a Digitec Timebender delay/looping pedal. However, I generally prefer to play harmonica with a clean acoustic sound.
