Band to Join, Vocalist, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Other Percussion, Fiddle, Upright bass.ABOUT
I played in various contexts (bands, a big band, some smaller acoustic combos) until my early twenties, after which music took a back seat to family and a career. Over the last few years, I've returned to picking up my guitars on a daily basis, and I am now keen to play with others again. At the moment, I am systematically trying to push the boundaries of my comfort zone into jazz, which I've previously brushed up against but never properly studied. I have a strong belief that ultimately all music is one and deserves to be mixed and remixed without excessive respect for genre boundaries.
I could imagine getting excited about very different musical settings: perhaps an ensemble of intermediate jazz enthusiasts wanting to assemble a repertoire of standards, perhaps a duo or trio built around a singer and creative covers and trying to stake out a space where Guns N'Roses and Django Reinhardt can perform musical handshakes, a straightforwardly loud rock band, a group writing original songs, etc.
The attached tracks were recorded and edited via Ableton Live and illustrate my eclectic taste. All guitar and bass parts are by me; the drums and percussion are a Frankenstein patchwork of miscellaneous loops. The first tune is an original, the second one an attempt to imagine what a Muzak treatment of Bon Jovi might sound like. The third track is a tentative sketch yoking together two very different musical flavours. It could perhaps be developed into a proper song with the help of a capable vocalist.
