Over the years I've played a lot with singers, both individual and in groups, and to a less extent with other solo instrumentalists. At present I play for two groups of singers. I'm also in a band. We perform a wide variety of popular music and I can turn my hand to many different styles, but I don't improvise. (I don't mean that I have a slavish adherence to what's in front of me, but I don't do what is generally understood as improvisation.) Also don't play from memory except in the privacy of my home.
I've given my skill level as 3 because I am not sure what these numbers mean. In my twenties I was probably grade 8+; my playing is now less technically proficient but more confident and I hope more musical.
