Experienced Oud player/arabic instrumentalist wanted to join a band including female vocalist, bass, drums and keys. The band will be working together collaboratively to create new arrangements for compositions that have already been written.
The resulting sound we are looking for is a fusion of arabic and black music styles (soul, hip hop, jazz, reggae).
We are looking for a great player who has live experience, is creative, knowledgable about arabic musical structures, reliable and who works well with others. Our first preference is for an Oud player but we would also like to hear from musicians who play other arabic style instruments and who like the sound of this project.
You will be working with accomplished and professional musicians.
Audition will be held in Clapham, London. Rehearsals will be in Croydon, London.
The final set will be performed at decibel showcase 2011 in Manchester, UK with further performance dates to be announced after the showcase.
The successful musician must be available:
- for 5 x full day rehearsals which will happen at some point between 25th July - 9th September (likely to be one rehearsal a week for 5 weeks),
- to perform on Weds 14th September in Manchester,
- to tour after then.
A fee for rehearsals and for the performance will be paid and expenses covered.
