All the jazz greats - Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, as well as many great soul artists and a few folk artists who wrote great songs. Too many influences to name but Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Carole King, Karen Carpenter, Joni Mitchell, Roberta Flack, Laura Nyro, James Taylor. Also some spiritual artists - Deva Premal, Snatam Kaur. I try to keep my lyrics, soulful, inspirational, or just very loving and reflective in the old fashioned sense.
