I'm a freelance sax and clarinet player based in the East Midlands area of the UK.

My main influences are rhythm and blues and swing although I play all types/genres of music.

I am also an experienced arranger for combos ranging from small to large.

Influences

Instrumentally, my first influences were Sydney Bechet and Bernard ‘Acker’ Bilk. I then went on to discover the great Blues saxophone players such as Eddie Vinson, Buddy Tate, Jimmy Forrest, Arnett Cobb, King Curtis, Junior Walker, Sonny Stitt, Hal Singer, Plas Johnson and Illinois Jacquet, to name but a few The influences of these true giants have, in recent years, been enhanced by a rediscovery of swing and the often overlooked music of the fifties and a tentative exploration of electronic music and the smooth jazz sounds of the likes of Dave Sanborn, the great Jim Horn and Kenny G. Oh, and not forgetting the amazing Jan Garbarek. Whilst I'm comfortable playing or listening to most styles of music, I have to confess that my main love is the Blues. No idea why. anything 'Bluesy' just seems to resonate and the fact that there's just so much of the old stuff available these days is amazing.
