Few will remember the Summer of 2011 as either long or hot but the
Ambassadors may be the exception to a very damp rule.
A relentless touring schedule has seen them popping up at sold-out one-off
gigs & Festivals across the UK , burning up miles that would make many a
younger tour bus blush. The ruthless lack of air-conditioning saw to
band-bonding & the speedy bedding in of new Bass Player, JP.
From rocking out at Proud in Camden, to lulling the crowds at Cock Rock in
Cumbria with an acoustic, Cello-led set before playing a main stage set that
left the Bluetones looking worried, AoM have continually honed their live
performances, incorporating a previously absent 'dance' element to their
edgy, angular, guitar-led pop (think 80's New Wave/ Post-Punk, trapped in a
lift with Blur and maybe a Police member or two...).
Ambassadors have released two singles. Wikepedia and Never Imagine This.
The Singles have paved the way for their hotly-anticipated debut EP (which will be out just in time for the Olympics!) rumoured to include their new live-fave, 'Push It' (yes, *that* Push It!).
The endless gigging has seen the boys build a solid, devoted fanbase. An
acclaimed set at Guilfest; supporting and then hanging out with Roger
Daltrey (his Number Plate features 'AOM' - the man's obsessed!) & Echo & The
Bunnymen, saw 'Next Big Thing' boxes being ticked too. In response to the
hard-work ethic & matching full diary, AoM have seen their radio profile
increase incrementally, with heavy support from diverse sources - BBC R6,
Recharged Radio, XFM, Amazing Radio, OneFM + BBC Radio Africa, BFBS Radio &
Vents Radio USA...
After a tour of Scotland in October, AoM visited the Royal Docks to record their new EP over the Christmas break. They are clearly in a good place... a band that are gelling nicely. Songwriting is flowing and the list of London & beyond gigs looks set to see the steady building process continue...
