ABOUT

I primarily play drums, but I also have extensive experience playing mandolin at bluegrass and folk jam sessions. I have played music since a very young age, and took up guitar in early high school. I have been playing drums in an original/cover band for about 2 years, and I play mandolin in most local jam sessions. I am fairly competent with guitar, as I played rhythm guitar in rock and folk for the majority of my early music years.

I have played mostly small pub gigs, but recently I have done small venues such as academy 3, club academy, band on the wall, and retro (when it was still open). I've also played with bands from all ages, I just enjoy playing music with anyone and everyone I can find!

I have the ability to learn full sets within a few days notice, and I have been able to listen to a song on stage, and be able to play it well by following other band members. This gained me the nickname "the matrix" with the band I covered for, due to being able to download songs on stage. In reality I just needed a reminder lol.

I'm always looking for new bands and musicians! I'm willing to both fill in for others and play as a permanent member, so do get in touch with anything and we can sort something out!

Influences

My drumming style is a mix of many drummers such as Ray Luzier, Mario Duplantier, Danny Carey, Gabe Helguera, and Niel Peart. My background in folk music and bluegrass allows me to have a very improvisational style on the kit, which allows me to adapt to any and all styles of drumming. It also helps when creating new songs, and learning on a short notice as I can improvise my way through parts I dont know too well. This has saved me on a few occasions when stepping in for other drummers with just a few days notice.

EQUIPMENT

Full drum kit plus breakables. I also have my own mixer and mic setup.
My mixer allows for a full band to be plugged in (up to 17 inputs, plus one for my kick drum mic too) depending on the venue and band needs. And also 6 individual monitor mixes. This also allows me to do sound engineering for a band, even if I am not the one playing.
I now use in-ear monitors for most gigs, but I have played with floor monitors before.
I have plenty of XLR cables, as well as any other type of cable that may be needed at a gig.
