Influences
Mainly hard Rock/heavy Metal and progressive stuff, but these days I try to be open to almost all genres of music, even those which I don’t particularly enjoy on their own. Whether it be a little synth or electronic melody in a pop song or dance track, or an odd jazz progression, or a balls to the wall death metal riff. If it inspires me and gives me a idea I’m looking for then I go with it. More recently I’ve been opened up to more soft rock, blues and acoustic stuff playing in the band I’m in which previously I wouldn’t of listened to being a sort of “modern rock/metal” guy. Though this has made me progress as a guitarist, I’m still more content and skilled at playing rock and metal and melodic/ambient/atmposheric type stuff, think shoegaze or post-metal type of sound. This is the kind of mix of sounds I’d like to achieve with a band (and by myself currently) which my other older band failed to do due to us splitting not too long ago. I was the main songwriter on the music side of things so I still have a lot of old material and ideas laying around that I never got to use.
