ABOUT

Fiddle player. Eclectic tastes. Moved across from classical, orchestral stuff in my teens to folk/celtic interspersed with a little rock in my early twenties alongside a brief foray into guitarland. Dabbled a wee bit with flute and trumpet along the way as well. Was also a classical pianist in my youth. Know my way a little around the keyboard still but have not played piano much in about 2 decades.

I love playing a whole mix of stuff. Especially celtic, gypsy, blues, bluegrass, shetland, scandinavian, and I especially love accompanying unplugged guitarists/vocalists playing their original material or covers in their own style. Being able to add those subtle little touches to help breathe some magic into other people's songs and tunes is what real musicianship is all about to me.

Looking to get back into playing with someone else after about 5 years wandering alone in the musical wilderness. Not sure exactly what I want yet. Depends on who I find. I guess I'm most likely looking for a like minded singer/guitarist. Someone who can accompany some of my stuff and who also wants a versatile and open minded violin/fiddle player to complete their sound. Not looking for a wedding or ceilidh band though.

An interest and/or some knowledge in jazz would be an advantage too. I eventually want to break across into manouche and gypsy swing / hot club stuff. Love it. That's the sound I'm really passionate about, and that's my end game but it's technically very challenging and I'm quite late to the game in starting. Slowly working towards it as a back burner project. Perhaps when I get to about 100 years old I'll be able to legitimately add that to my skillset. In the meantime, I'll keep playing those scales and have fun musical adventures with others along the way ;)
