ABOUT

Although The Rise hail from the mean streets of South East London, their music is far from mean and is currently enjoying a high degree of critical acclaim nationally across the UK and, naturally, internationally across the internet. Anthony Goldsbrough and Michael Gazzard came together as highly respected session guys, backing top UK stars like Peter Andre, Dane Bowers, Blue and The Corrs on British TV and Radio. These high frequency and exacting appearances grooved a degree of performance professionalism and experience which most aspiring acts would give their eye teeth for. In The Rise’s case it exudes a confidence and ease industry critics like their old TV/Radio boss and media giant Jonathan Ross might only expect from massive chart stars.

Unsurprisingly, and partly as the result of the duo’s good looks and ease with music-borne feelings, and as a quick perusal of the band’s site will confirm, The Rise boast a huge following amongst females across the globe. And the band have one female fan of particular note – their official photographer Mary McCartney, daughter of Sir Paul, who has shot some outstanding and exclusive band portraits and live sets.

Citing musical influences as wide ranging and varied as Simon & Garfunkel, John Mayer, Goo Goo Dolls, Maroon 5, Bob Dylan and The Script, The Rise fit perfectly into an AC format usually open to a blend of fine melodies, and lyrics. So, what really turns the ‘South London’ duo on? “It might sound just a little cheesy” quips Michael during a break from shooting a guest star appearance on current net smash Balcony TV “but we do all this for one thing only – love of the music”. And so the rise of The Rise continues…
