Hi, we are an East London two-piece seeking a drummer, violinist and keyboard player to join us full time… Naturally, we would hesitate to try and describe our sound, but I guess it comes under the heading Alt Rock, with elements of Trip Hop and Americana. Think PJ Harvey's 'To Bring You My Love,' Portishead's 'Dummy' and Mark Lanegan's 'Bubblegum' and you're almost there… We have been playing together for over 18 months, writing and recording the bare bones of a record and over the past year-and-a-half have played throughout Europe at venues including the Whitechapel Gallery in East London, the Orsanmichele in Florence and Centre Pompidou in Paris. Until now we've intentionally kept it quite snarly, lo-fi and stripped back and we have written around 20 tracks this way - some of which you can hear on Soundcloud: our username is the same as above. These tracks have been written with occasional back-up from other musicians (e.g. violin) but at this stage we would like to find people who are all in… We're looking for a few people who are relatively experienced and comfortable with improvisation. Versatility is also really important - we really need you to be able to give the bigger moments the muscle and rage that they need, but who can also carry the quieter, more harrowing stuff… Another thing to mention is commitment; we rehearse in Hackney 3-4 times a week and gig regularly so you really have to be into it if it's going to work. Other than that we're open to ideas… So much of it is about chemistry so if the above works for you, get in touch and we'll take it from there.
