Solstice is a musical project which began in the spring of 2012. Consisting of musician and artist Sean McGhee and producer John McGhee, the collaboration sought to create a fresh, unique yet accessible sound, using rich, layered melodies, sweeping orchestral arrangements and rustic, melancholic guitar sounds.

The project was created and recorded in Geneva, Switzerland between May and September 2012, using an extremely modest assortment of recording equipment and instruments which undoubtedly added, indirectly and unintentionally, to the eventual sound achieved by the duo.

The finished tracks, however, are not actually finished at all. Although happy with the sounds achieved, the tracks as they are today are to act as demos, merely signposts pointing towards something much grander, much more elegant and pristine than their current incarnations. But what is now needed, above all else, is a voice. Sean and John are now seeking, as the final phase of the pre-studio creative process, a unique, charismatic and (not essentially but most desirably) creative character to add the final, delicate textures to their music.

Distance, in this case, is not an issue. Although currently based in the north east of England (in the case of Sean) and Switzerland (in the case of John), the right singer could be almost anywhere for all they care, although England, it has to be said, would be the ideal place to start. But precisely where in England is not something they're greatly concerned with. All that's required from any potential collaborative artist is a genuine desire to work on these tracks, along with a creative spark and, more than anything else, a sense of dedication to seeing this project through to the end.

And where is the end? This is something Sean and John are viewing as an ever retreating horizon. When the demos are finalized, the next stage will be to recruit musicians with an eye to live performance, and eventually to secure the backing and funding to record the songs professionally.
