If it to play covers then it needs to be fresh and a bit more adventurous than the usual sh*te just about every bands plays on the circuit. Love most rock from yesteryear to modern day. Have plenty of original ideas for grungy, heavyish rock band - think Alter bridge meets chris cornell to hell is for heroes and brigade.
