ABOUT

The Band:
Killing Frank were born as a three piece in 2011. The original members were Simon Shaw (vocals), Alessandro Solazzi (guitar) and Marco Rizzo (drums). The guys immediately started writing their own songs inspired predominately by Rock/Punk/Funk & Indie. They were soon joined by Andres Felipe Aya (bass) whose skills and passion helped instantly to flesh out the band's sound. The creative process is communal with Alessandro playing a leading role in building interesting and varied song structures that sound great live.

Members Of Band

The Band Members:
Alessandro, one of two Italians, started playing guitar when he was 16, soon after he listened to Nevermind by Nirvana. In the 90s he played in hardcore bands such as “Stato a Parte” and “Degrado”, and got his initial musical influence from bands such as Bed Religion, NOFX, Good Riddance and Lag Wagon. Years pass by and his music taste changes. Now Alessandro’s playlist includes anything from the Queens of the Stone Age to the Beatles, from Radiohead to deep house mentors such as Kerri Chandler and Little Louie Vega.
Marco, the second Italian band member, began his musical path when he was a kid playing percussion in his city’s orchestra. In his teens Marco joined a 70s Rock Covers band playing anything from Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake & Palmer to the Doors, Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix. The band broke up after 3 years and Marco only started playing again in 2011. His playlist contains tracks from the Strokes and the Black Keys to Queen and Guns & Roses and from Beastie Boys and Eminem to Kerri Chandler and Joey Negro.
Andres is an ambitious Colombian talent, who started playing bass at the age of 16. Influenced by heavy metal, hard rock, progressive and alternative pop, he has played in bands with varying genre styles. Andres arrived in London a year ago to study music production which leads him to Killing Frank. His playlist now has absolutely everything from western electro pop to Latin American music such as Buena Vista Social Club.
Simon, the only British member of the band, motivates the band and more importantly writes the idiosyncratic lyrics. This is Simon’s first foray into music outside of appreciating and exploring a wide range of alternative music from Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters and Neil Young through to the Field Music, The Horrors and Fleet Foxes.
