Hello, I'm a 19 year old guitarist from the Hertfordshire area, looking to form a band with other like minded musicians. At the moment the band is just myself, writing and recording some instrumental songs on my computer but I want to take it to the next level with people who share similar ideas to me. The working name for the band I have come up with is Scarred Orange, but it can change if once the band is formed, we decide on a different name.
I have never really been in a serious band, and have mostly played for fun with friends or school mates playing cover songs so I have a little, but not a lot of experience of playing with other musicians. I'm looking to form a band with various influences such as older classic metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne), as well as some more modern hardcore/emo bands such as Atreyu, Alexisonfire.
I'm looking to form a band that I hope will become fairly serious in time, but will start off fairly easy, getting to know each other, playing styles, writing songs and generally having fun. I am a big believer in melody and harmony so this will be a big feature of the kind of music I want to make. I also believe in guitar and keyboard harmonies as well as vocal harmonies and would hope to be able to have duel vocals in certain parts of songs (not that I can sing ;)). I want the guitars and drums to also have a grinding heavy edge and for the songs to be fairly emotionally fueled.
Specifically I'm looking for:
A vocalist - Someone with a nice range of melodic vocals, not too cheesy but also not too serious. As a lyricist I would want you to be able to think outside the box and be able to work around songs that do not necessarily have traditional structures. If you can mix things up with the occasional scream then that would be great, but not essential.
Another guitarist/keyboard player - Someone who can share lead guitar and rhythm parts, but also play piano/keyboards to mix songs up. Must be moderately skilled at both instruments.
A drummer - I'm after a drummer who can create fairly catchy drums to compliment the rest of the music. It doesn't need to be anything too complicated or elabroate, but if you fancy adding that element then by all means you'll be welcome to.
I don't have my own method of transport so I am looking for local musicians, or musicians who live locally enough and are willing to travel to the Hertfordshire area of around the same age as me (18-22). I should let you know that I am heading off to university in a month, but I won't be leaving the county so I feel I am able to keep up with the band. Hope to hear from any interested people soon.
