ABOUT
Sankara was formed in late 2010 by Gareth Jones and Jay MacDonald. We released a four song EP in October 2011, appeared at Cambridge Rock Festival in August 2012, released our first album in November 2012, and completed a seven date UK tour in June 2013. We were invited to play at HRH Prog this year. We are currently writing material for our second album. Please contact us at admin at sankara dot co dot uk.

Influences
Our influences range from Jazz to Heavy Metal, and everything in between. What's important to us is creating and performing music that we love playing. All band members bring ideas to the mix, and we record and produce to a high standard. Reviewers have variously labelled Sankara as Progressive Rock, Melodic Rock, AOR or Classic Rock depending on their own personal bias. We prefer to describe ourselves as simply a rock band, and let other people worry about which pigeonhole they put us in. But anyone familiar with Rush, Marillion, Journey, Aerosmith, UFO, King's X or Led Zeppelin would probably feel right at home!
