Recently formed but drawing on years of collective experience, Rocket ‘59 are a band paying their respect to the early days of Rock and Roll. We place the emphasis on audience enjoyment which will be led by the bands energy and musicianship. It’s going to be great fun.
Rocket ’59 currently consist of Jamie, 34 (guitar and vocals), Matt, 33 (guitar) and Alex (keys). Having played live with a full backing band to test the audience response (which has been overwhelmingly positive), we are now looking to cement the line-up and are holding auditions for the following:
Drummer: own kit and transport a must; would prefer a hard-hitter with a slightly jazzy feel as the majority of our tunes were written in the 50’s / 60’s. Backing vocals and / or harmonies are a plus.
Bassist: again, own kit and transport necessary. The setlist as it stands doesn’t call for any musical gymnastics but we need someone who can hold down a steady authentic bassline. Backing vocals and / or harmonies a BIG plus. Bonus points too if you own a Hofner violin bass 
The range of material covered includes Chuck Berry, early Beatles and Stones, Little Richard and more. As mentioned above, feedback has been great and we expect to be very busy during 2014 and beyond.
Age of applicants should be broadly similar to ours to maintain the aesthetic of the group and dedication to the band is a must for an potential member – we are all seasoned performers who are giving this project 100%.
