Acoustic: I play a slaptop turbo cajon played with hands or brushes, for a nice dry sound. I can put the mics through my delay pedal for a nice percussive delay effect.
Electronics: I play an FGDP50 with an SPD::1 kick pad. The percussion is where I'd fit best into a band.
I love to write lyrics and songs. See the images for some snippets. And I play a bit of rhythm tenor guitar (acoustic and electric).
I'm looking to hook up with a songwriter or musician or two who want to play for fun - either originals or covers.
I enjoy all genres except heavy metal and rap.
In 2024 I agreed to play percussion at a fantastic up-and-coming folk musician's London and Southampton album launch gigs. He says:
"I asked Robin if he'd be the percussionist for the band I put together for my album launch. I knew I'd made a great decision in choosing him and had struck gold: a sensitive, listening player, attuned to the moods and dynamics of the songs, dedicated to the performance and an easy-to-get-along-with guy!"
Thank you, Theo! As I hope you can tell, I love music, and people, and performing. I'm friendly and easygoing, and young at heart.
The song samples here are recorded with Reaper DAW, and a mix of live drums and samples, uke and tenor but all written, arranged, played and recorded by me. On the live cover of
Mairi Campbell's Smile or Cry, I'm just playing guitar.
Give me a shout!
