Born on January 18th, 2008, River Morris is a 18-year-old British indie rock vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter who is currently best known as the front man of The Bitter Boys. River began playing the guitar at 15.
In November 2024, River formed The Bitter Boys, professionally forming the group on November 9th, 2024. The group was completed with the addition of bassist Tommy Angelo and established their sound on fervent songwriting, gritty guitars, and deeply personal lyrics. Acts such as Los Campesinos!, Lovejoy, Arctic Monkeys, The Front Bottoms, and James Marriott influenced the band in finding a mix of confessional lyrics and intense indie rock arrangements.
The Bitter Boys are also working on recording their debut album, Tape It To A Wall, which captures the highs and lows of young life — love, heartbreak, wistfulness, and growing up. The record seeks emotional vulnerability yet intimate songs. One of its standout tracks is Physiological Coupling, which is a personal track that examines human connection and how emotions intertwine between people. The album also features the highly-touted single Drunken Drivers, a melancholic and ambient track that showcases the band's signature blend of sadness and thrust.
Lyrically, River's writing tends to strike a balance between introspection and poetic narrative, turning late-night musings and ephemeral feelings into songs that sound raw and real. The Bitter Boys' music speaks to those who want honesty and integrity — songs intended to be screamed at the top of one's lungs, felt in the stomach, and recalled long after the last note.
