Take A Minute (remaster)
Take A Minute (remaster)An out and out rock track at it's heart while bringing in elements of electronic dance and dub reggae in a seamless way to take the track in an unexpected direction. The lyrics explore the idea of realising you don't have to follow the same pattern the world tells us, that we can find a way to be true to ourselves and not have the life sucked out of us by work and the desire for more.
Not Like You
Not Like YouThis song is about staying true to yourself and resisting others’ need to control you. It uses a tongue-in-cheek metaphor of someone trying to make me dance to music I don’t like to help them have a good time, this happened at a party and got me thinking about the bigger picture of how some people need to control others to feel good about themselves and how wrong that is. I wanted to combine the music genres I love to dance (rock, DnB, early rave) to and I’m really happy with the result!
So Sad Mix202000602a
So Sad Mix202000602aI wrote this song about loss of freedom and about how we don't appreciate what we have/had. Also how this current time of pandemic has hightlighted so many things that we've taken for granted or ignored because it's easier. I wanted the music to convey hope for a better future while communicating the sadness of what's gone before and what's currently going on.
Can I Love You?
Can I Love You?Can I Love You? explores the feelings and emotions of loving someone despite their flaws and who they are. The verse guitar riff underpins this before ripping into the chorus at 1min 10 secs. The anthemic chorus switches tempo resolving the message of the verses. Watch for the epic outro build starting at 3:25! 'The drums, guitar and vocals express these things very well. I must say I was impressed with the octave that the performer was able to reach and sound so great! ' Reignland.co 'If you like your rock full to the brim with funk and containing a bassline that’ll get you right out of your chair then this is a track right up your street.' Min Noise Network Blog
Get Down Stay Down Mix REF07
Get Down Stay Down Mix REF07Written and produced by Chris Rush "Get Down Stay Down" has a syncopated groove with distorted guitar stabs punctuated the flow. Lyrically it abstractly describes the push and pull of wanting to take the harder things in life on but equally wanting to avoid them. The chorus doesn't drop until 1:40 but this gives the song time to build the tension needed for the big payoff when it does arrive, the bridges give plenty of movement for the listener on the way there. The chorus uses robotic distorted guitars and a drum n bass type synth to anthemic effect underpinning the hooky lead vocal line. The third verse uses some interesting arrangment to bring space and relief before building to the final chorus and epic outro.
Chris Rush - Menlo Park REF01 LIM
Chris Rush - Menlo Park REF01 LIMThis is a bit of an unusual subject matter for me, a friend set me a challenge to write a song about a famous person. I already had the first line to a song I was writing that had the word Tom in it and I had the line 'his lights were shining'. I decided it must be about the greatest inventor of the last century - Thomas Edison, inventory of the light bulb amongst many other things! Menlo Park was his invention laboratory. Happy listening!
