Poppy's Field is a London-based folk act who dares to break conformity by weaving pop and even urban elements into their overarching sound.
The stage moniker of Whitechapel singer-songwriter Santino Payne, Poppy's Field has been a project under development for him since the age of 14. Those close to him had quickly discovered that, even at such a tender developmental age, Payne had the refreshing ability to effectively relay his thoughts and experiences through the universal power of music. He himself cites artists like The Smiths, Plan B, Jackson Browne and Buddy Holly as prime musical influences.
Sam Dennis joined Poppy’s Field in 2014. From Billericay, Essex, Sam adds an extra “oomph” to the band’s overall sound alongside Santino as his backing vocalist and co-instrumentalist.
In working with acclaimed producer Toby Baker, who has previously devised hits for Eric Clapton, Will Young, and Donna Summer, Poppy's Field has truly found a unique and developed sound that is all their own. Even at Santino’s young age today, his songwriting and performance abilities are remarkably well above his years in terms of maturity and an overall awareness of the world around him.
This shows as Poppy's Field has already played gigs across London, Spain and toured America this has garnered interest towards their music worldwide. Their music has been played on Gary Crowley's BBC London 94.9, introducing show and various radio stations across the UK and US to his idiosyncratic sound. Santino was also interviewed by Jonathan Frahm of PopWrapped about Poppy’s Field’s unique urban folk stylings and the state of the music industry today. The act has recently signed to Spectra Music Group, the biggest indie label in existence. Spectra will be releasing Poppy's Field's debut EP 'Doll Face' in the near future. Poppy’s Field is currently on The Revolution Tour across America, where they have toured alongside the L.A based group Brave Native actress and singer Lauren Mayhew and Youtube sensations Bria and Chrissy as well as performing 7 shows at the prestigious SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, Poppy's Field have also been sponsored by Red Roof Inn and clothing brand American Gypsy Apparel
