Soprano sax and clarinet player seeks a trumpet player and others.

Sax Player just about to return to soprano sax and clarinet after a long break due to health problems. Presently unwell (june 2024) and looking to meet up for jamming around september 2024.

Interested in old stuff played hot and fast - simplified Kenny Ball numbers in a Skiffle framework would be fine. I'm not really a jazz player, but can lash up something along those lines. My playing involves growling and open throat techniques, self taught.

Most recently gigged tenor sax in jump blues / rock n roll, and have actually played tenor in a functions band as a non reader in the past, back in the 90s.

My ideal band would be with trumpet / cornet, tea chest bass and either banjo or LIGHTLY amplified acoustic guitar.

The elephant in the room is that gigging is Nasty, and I would sooner play in the smoking area.

No more guitar collectors with amps louder than a PA please.

My long term aim is to gain a foothold in a Sidney Bechet like sound.

It says "just for fun" below, but I can be fanatical about playing.

Lee Allen, Hal Singer. I love the way Art Pepper played. Increasingly seeking Sidney Bechet.
