ABOUT

Hi - we're Patch & The Giant. We're an alt/folk band, currently signed to a small indie label in London. We have an EP out (tracks from which have been played on BBC Radio 2), we've just completed a UK tour and have some big festival slots this summer (including Hop Farm, Larmer Tree, Green Man...and more). We're in a very exciting place and really enjoying what we're doing...but somewhat inevitably it's got to a point where it's no longer just a casual hobby and as a result a couple of the guys have (very reluctantly) decided they can't keep up the work/band balance so are going to be moving on to concentrate on their careers.

We have been playing as up to a 7-piece until now but using the opportunity to refine the live set up a bit so not necessarily looking to stay as a 7 piece - right now we're looking for a bass instrument... we've been chopping and changing between cello and bass recently but are currently looking for a new bassist to come and join us. We have been playing with bass guitar but upright bass would be amazing....or somebody who could play both (but still very interested to hear from not double bass playing bassists).

We do all have day jobs and other lives so not expecting to find somebody who puts the band and only the band before everything but we do need somebody who is happy to miss the odd birthday party or sacrifice a 2 week holiday in the sun in order to play at a festival etc...and just generally go with the flow so if things do continue to progress we have a full band of people on board who are ready to go with it.

We're a close-nit bunch and have a lot of fun together, we were once described as 'the friendliest band in London' - we don't know if that's particularly true but we are nice and there's a great wider community of musicians we're involved with and we often play with/record with other bands so looking for somebody who would be happy to embrace this.
