ABOUT

Experienced guitarist, recently moved back home to the Isle of Wight after many years living in London; currently playing with Seren, a local post-punk covers band, but looking to connect with local musicians, with a view to doing more.

No longer looking to conquer the world, but still got enough juice left in the tank to want to rock out and have some creative fun with like-minded musicians, play some excellent music, and do some fun gigs (well!)

Playing originals is probably of more interest, but will consider covers if they’re the right ones - I just don’t want to play the same generic, predictable, unimaginative crowd pleasers as everyone else. Let’s leave that to everyone else, right?

I also play a bit of drums, but not to the same level as I play guitar. Can do some vocals, but more comfortable backing than fronting.

Influences

Alt-rock, post-punk, grunge, psych, garage, shoegaze - hugely influenced by "Siamese Dream era" Smashing Pumpkins, "Bends era" Radiohead, "Seventeen Seconds era" Cure, but also love bands as diverse as Joy Division, BRMC, A Place to Bury Strangers, Sonic Youth, Killing Joke, Soundgarden, early Verve, The Black Angels, Siouxsie and the Banshees, MBV, Dry Cleaning, Cloakroom, Dark Star... Really just great bands that make interesting music with plenty of mood and atmosphere; driving riffs and rhythms; big, dynamic, effects-heavy soundscapes with maybe a sprinkling of psychedelia here and there.
