VOCALIST, KEYBOARDIST AND BASSIST REQUIRED FOR CRUISE SHIP FUNCTION GIG!
If you would like to work aboard a cruise liner making money playing music and seeing the world with all accommodation and food paid for then please read on.
We currently have 3 band members; a drummer and 2 guitarists also able to provide backing vocals, each of us have completed a music degree course.
We are lucky enough to have existing contacts within the cruise ship industry which we will be utilising should we need them.
Our repertoire will consist mainly of popular songs spanning from the 1950s to the present day charts. Genres will include Rock, Country, Soul, Jazz, Disco, Blues, Motown etc.
The main aim is to have a large and varied set list of around 150+ songs that is palatable to our target audience with the ability to also take requests.
Requirements:
• Applicants must be available at least once a week for rehearsals within the Brighton and Hove area
• We are looking to leave in August/September for a contract lasting 3-6 months so please take this into consideration when applying
• Age range - 21-25 preferable
• The standard paperwork required for worldwide travel and employment such as passports and national insurance ID’s etc.
For all applicants:
• You must have your own gear
• Be stylistically flexible
• Ideally all applicants should be able to double up on at least one other instrument as well as backing vocals
• Have experience playing live
• Consider that we will need to memorize around 150+ songs
• Ability to improvise
Vocalist:
We are looking for someone with stage presence and lots of experience performing to a live audience. Because of the nature of the gig it is important you are able to sing in a variety of styles and for extended periods. Ability to play another instrument would be advantageous but not essential.
Bassist:
Can you groove? How’s your rhythm? These are essential traits we are looking for. If you can double up on vocals or play keyboard to a good standard that would be preferable
Keys:
Because of the large repertoire we will have to assimilate it is important you have large banks of sounds available. For example, if we need to emulate a brass section or particular synth for a song you should be able to provide a convincing and suitable sound/part.
We are looking to incorporate the use of Midi controllers to cover any additional sounds so experience with this would be invaluable.
