Bass Guitar.ABOUT
We are a fairly well-established band in Birmingham and have done lots of exciting things like support John Power from Cast, and supporting Alabama 3 in London, and playing on the roof of GateCrasher in Brum.
We have good relationships with a number of promoters, so the gigs are waiting. We have recorded one album and are currently looking at our second, but we need a bassist!
I know it might sound mean, but we don't want students. In our experience, they can't commit to more than a year at a time and have continually made it difficult for us to have a line up for long enough to achieve anything. I know this isn't true for all students, so if you're offended by our experience and tell me I'm wrong, based purely on our own experience that you weren't there for, feel free to leave an angry comment with bad spelling and grammar and capital letters and exclamation marks. Good god, nothing quite wins an argument or tells someone off on the internet like capital letters and exclamation marks! Oh and you'll probably want to call me some sort of a name.
Anyhoo, we'd prefer a grown up, mid to late twenties with a job, who will be living in Birmingham or close to Birmingham for the foreseeable future. We're all grown ups, with day jobs, so band stuff is largely restricted to weekends, with the odd exception.
We would expect you to learn our current catalogue of songs as they are, but you will have full creative freedom on new songs, as long as it's not sh*t. We would hope that you'd be open to suggestions from us to your playing, and that you would be happy to make suggestions for ours.
If you've got your own songs, all the better. If we think they'll fit with what we do, we're happy to give them a go.
Backing vocals are also a plus.
Ideally, we would like somebody who has played bass in a band before, so we can hear your previous work.
Shyness will not help. If you think I'm being an twat (I can be a twat) you'll need to tell me straight up. Again, this comes from previous experience. And if you become unhappy in the band, just leave.
You must also be a lot of fun. Specifically quite immature fun. There's enough bands around with a sour puss on their faces and (probably) cucumbers up their arses.
So yeah, take a listen to what we do at www.myspace/nervecentremusic. As well as tunes, you can read more about what we have achieved, and watch Nerve Centre: The Animated Series. Yes, we have a cartoon.
I think that's all. Sorry to be quite picky and specific about what we need, but we are getting sick of looking for bassists. But PM or reply to this if you think you can help.
Love, peace and bananas,
Ronan
