ABOUT

I’m a highly experienced Bass Player seeking Jazz Musicians.

I’m 68 years old.

- Record Label signed in the early 90’s.
- Semi pro playing big stages at 17 years old
- Since retiring, running successful function bands

Most recently I’ve been playing with a Jazz Standards Band: shooting and editing the videos you see here myself (after studio-recording), building a website for the band and getting them on-roster with three booking agencies.

Looking to start another one of those doing similar material to what you see in the Jazz videos below (but a bit more Jazzy) and probably travelling a little further than the immediate locale for function bookings.

A good female Jazz singer
A good Jazz saxophone player

OBJECTIVE:-

Bookings around the Home Counties and in London, functions, parties, pubs, etc. Probably for reasonable money for the functions but really for the music.

MY HISTORY:-

Since Retiring from a University Head of Faculty post 9 years ago I have started, recorded and ran two highly successful Function Bands, gigging throughout the South East.

Tangerine Scene (“a tribute to the psychedelic era”) and Below the Border (70s Rock Hits).

I produced the recordings at a pro studio, shot and edited the videos, built websites, got the bands on to Booking Agency rosters and so on.

The function bands were for fun, albeit reasonably well-paid. We wanted to gig only once a month and were turning down 3 out of 4 booking requests.

Made some wonderful friends.

Previously:

Whilst working in Education full time I ran a dreadful blues band for 20 years (I’d have got less for murder) with close friends.

In the 90s I was full time label-signed professional touring an album; after selling recruitment my company in London, getting divorced and hitting the road!

In my teens I was in a fab rock band in the 70s playing the major venues on the Birmingham circuit; we got fag-paper close to a deal with Vertigo.

Despite the obvious entrepreneurial thread to all of the above, I should point out I’m a socialist!
