ABOUT

The Egyptians has gone through many tranformations over the years. It's a long story so we'll just tell you all about the current stuff such as who are the Egyptians? The current line up consists of Song writer/ bassist Micky Steevo; Drummer Paro Bodinii; Keyboardist: Richard Nieper. The current line up have been together for 19 months. Front man, Micky Steevo, was first spoon fed on music from the “Trojan record volumes” through to Lou Armstrong and then onto bands such as “The Police”; “The Beatles”; “Hendrix”; ELO; Level 42 etc. Despite of the bands many influences, they’d like to think that their music has its own fresh sound that stands out from the usual. Their music isn’t entirely rock nor is it pop I guess it sits somewhere in between the two. On reflection I suppose our music could be described as dynamic rock executed with melodic touches grit and compassion. Drummer Paro has been largely influenced by Latin music– especially Brazilian & Afro-Cuban beats – and Paro spent many years playing a variety of percussion instruments with various samba/salsa outfits. His love of the kit drums never left him & he took them up again in the last couple of years. As well as the Latin stuff, like Micky, Paro had lots of rock/pop influences growing up in the vibrant London scene: bands such as The Beatles (of course), The Police, Stranglers & Devo were important to him, as were many reggae, funk, soul & jazz greats such as Bob Marley, Aswad, James Brown, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder & many others. In fact, it’s fair to say that Paro has pretty eclectic & varied taste when it comes to music, and this is reflected in his playing. The band have gigged throughout London and beyond, at the various prestigious rock venues. We’ve currently written a 4 track Ep that have already been recorded, mixed and mastered. We are very excited about the recent work; it has a touch of nostalgic timelessness. The Ep is scheduled for digital release in August2010 shortly followed by the physical release.
