The Milestone big band is a traditional sized big band (5/4/4/4) based in Charlwood, nr Gatwick. We have had a couple of vacancies in our trombone section for some time, and now have an urgent need for an experienced first trombone player to join us.
The band has been established for many years, but the last six years has seen a name change and a vast improvement in the quality of the band. We have an excellent rhythm section, and a good and established sax and trumpet section. We are undergoing a complete overhaul of our music library, and tackling many modern compositions by arrangers like Bill Potts and Gordon Goodwin, as well as the traditional repertoire of Nestico and Basie. We have hosted masterclasses by Alan Barnes and Mark Nightingale, and Alan Barnes has even played a fundraising gig for us, backed by the band.
We'd love to hear from experienced players interested in joining the band, but if you can't, we'd would be very grateful if you could pass this on to anyone you know who might be interested in joining us. The band is extremely lively and friendly. We meet on Tuesday nights at Charlwood Parish Hall. If you fancy having a no-obligation play one night, we’d love to see you.
