Hi there,
I'm in the London based band Solidstate and we are currently looking for a drummer. I find it quite hard to say what genre we are (for that reason I recommend you listen to the MP3s on our website), although I would say very roughly that we are soft rock. It's all piano and guitar based music, fairly straight forward stuff. We already have 9 very good songs written (again, see website) and are planning to get rehearsing them as soon as possible (as soon as we get a drummer basically). We also plan to record the songs properly at the Trent College Studio within a few weeks.
Our activities are currently confined to the weekend, so it shouldn't interfere with your dayjob, however we do want someone who is serious about music. This is a band with big ambitions!
As you can tell from listening to our songs, our music is not particularly technically challenging, and because of this the main things we are looking for in a drummer is the ability to keep rock solid timing and to be reliable (turn up to rehearsals on time etc).We’d like someone who picks up songs quickly. In a nutshell what we need is a pocket drummer- someone who does fills when it best suits the music, not every 2 seconds. In this band, the music comes first. We also don't want someone who is jerk! Would be nice to have a drummer around the same age as the rest of us (22), but if you're good enough then we're not that bothered.
Would also welcome someone who can offer constructive criticism of our work to date, and maybe suggest changes.
