I’m an established artist / producer and I’m looking for a vocalist / writer to collaborate with on a new venture. There is some legacy from my previous band but this will provide us with a platform to launch something new, essentially a ready made audience for our music. They’ll be a new name (still deciding), a new sound and a fresh approach. I have the drive, talent and contacts to make this a success.
In terms of style, think Chvrches, Grimes or something slightly more established like Goldfrapp, essentially cool electronic bands. What I’ve been doing for the past six years has been more retro sounding, think early 80’s electronic bands like Yazoo, Eurythmics, Erasure & Pet Shop Boys. We’ve built up a great following, notched up a Top 5 album in Sweden, supported well established bands in the UK and Europe, played over 200 dates including festivals, basically it’s been a blast. After releasing our third album last year it now feels right to have a change, so here I am.
I’m not bothered about age, I’m 44. Alison Goldfrapp started in her early thirties and her musical partner Will Gregory was in his 40’s, they defined a sound for much of the 2000’s and we’ll be aiming to do the same. So don’t think you’re too old (or me).
Working together can be pretty easy and largely by remote. We’d only need to meet to actually record, rehearse and play live. My previously partner had an iPad with Garage Band, we can share ideas in the same way if you wanted as it worked really well. I would send her ideas, she would add to them and record her demo vocals and then send them back, once we were happy with these we’d get together to record. No need to spend money on expensive studios it can all be done at home.
You’ll have a voice in everything we do and in terms of investment and earnings it would be 50/50. I already own a ton of equipment so the only real investment you’ll need to make is your energy and time.
Real and sustained success is achieved through hard work and commitment and not the X Factor, I hope you feel the same!
