ABOUT

Turned-on music to shake your hips & pluck your heartstrings. . . DC Fontana are on a mission.

With genre-busting songs that glow with warmth, art (sic) & soul & melody, DC Fontana

Having honed its sound with a back-breaking schedule of non-stop live touring, the group has made a dynamic impact with its debut album ‘Six Against Eight’ in 2010.

The record was produced by long-time Julian Cope guitarist Donald Ross Skinner & mastered by U2 & Smiths producer Mark Wallis.

The group's record takes the listener on 14 trips to their art and soul with a bliss out that begs for recognition.

With a confident sophistication that transcends convenient genre tagging, the group has seemingly appeared from nowhere to capture the imagination with a dreamy debut album.

The DCs display an almost lascivious desire to lead the listener on a dizzy dance throughout 'Six Against Eight' with twists & turns throughout that surprise and delight.

It's a fully-realised & ambitious debut disc that succeeds on every level.

Orchestras, sitars, organs, guitars and feel-good female vocals that match the bespoke chic of singer Karla Milton's timeless sense of cool set the tone for what is a bulging 14-tune collection of bespoke, original composition.

'Six Against Eight' drips with a voluminous richness of eclectic analogue sounds, recorded beautifully at the world-famous Parr Street Studios in Liverpool at the invite of legendary Echo & The Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant.

Kitchen sink dramas, trippy space rock explorations & soulful jazz-infused grooves all weave together on the record.

To promote the album the group even made a short movie also called 'Six Against Eight.'

Shot on location in Portmeirion, north Wales & a manor house in the centre of England, the mini-movie is a magnificent mixture of dark & light, probing surrealism while heartily doffing the DC cap to the cult 60s TV spy genre.

The film lasts more than eight minutes & stars lead singer Karla Milton alongside actors Tom Rees, Nathan Morris, Richard Taylor & Suzy Breda-Hill plus the rest of the DC group.

Created by Anotherschmuck Productions of London, 'Six Against Eight' is a beautiful & living evocation of the group's 'art & soul' creed & is an idiosyncratic slice of illusory eye candy to decorate your mind's eye.

Fronted by singer Karla Milton & featuring former Spectrum & E.A.R. man Scott Riley, bass player Mark Mortimer, in-demand horns man Steve Trigg & a host of others, DC Fontana's star is very much in the ascent.

Karla Milton is an über-cool English west country Lorelei sat upon a rock above the River Severn, luring sonic navigators into her confidence with bewitching looks & an alluring voice that would leave BBC bosses drooling over her Queen’s English accent.

Musically the group can move effortlessly from an almost northern soul stomp to space-rocking soundscaping, cinematic psychedelic jazz & kitchen-sink pop dramas, the DC’s sound is equally at home as a raw live groove or a more sophisticated sound, elegantly decorated with orchestral sweeps.

Delivering sumptuous hooks, intricate arrangements & lush, swooning melodies, DC Fontana have managed to unlock a Pandora’s Box to unveil a timeless sound that transcends labelling – the music sucks you in, soothes your soul, sends your senses spinning and then spews you back out again leaving you desperate for more.

DC Fontana tumble, twist & turn to produce magical music tailor-made to move you & to make your feet move.
