I began playing bass in my teens and have been in love with it ever since. I learned quickly and soon started playing for school productions, school jazz band, blues band, reggae band, school orchestra and community swing band. I also started playing regularly in church for choirs and soloists.
I started to play for rock bands and alternative bands in my time at college, which for me was a huge learning curve, but one I took too well. At that time I was a huge JK and Incognito fan and we used to spend hours jamming along to all their songs, part of the way I groove now has been shaped by listening to bands of that genre in my younger years.
At university I continued to play for different groups, main one being a jazz ensemble. I played quite a few studio sessions too in that time for various groups/artists, from rock/alternative to hip hop.
I've always continued in gospel, more recently playing contemporary gospel at many venues for a variety of artists.
I've recently started doing a few sessions for a Motown covers band and it is a great experience playing iconic bass lines.
