ABOUT

-= SUMMARY =-

I'm a bass player very much into progressive rock, classic rock and also metal. I absolutely love classic old stuff from the 60's, 70's and 80's. I also dig classical music, jazz, funk, and some punk/post-punk/gothic stuff (it has to sound good and meaningful though - I'm quite picky!).

-= A LITTLE MORE DETAIL ON INFLUENCES AND STYLE =-

I absolutely love RUSH (Geddy Lee's one of my idols, probably the biggest one), Dixie Dregs, Genesis, Yes, Porcupine Tree, David Bowie, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath (especially post-Ozzy, but I love the Ozzy era too), Symphony X, Dream Theater, Kingston Wall, Amorphis, Led Zeppelin, and others. I also REALLY like heavy metal (especially classical metal and the NWOBHM) and also thrash metal, etc.

However, as said above, I like all sorts of stuff! I am very versatile and can adapt to anything, really. Also, I'm very fond of complex (but coherent!!) bass lines though, so if you're looking for something way too simple, I might get bored.

-= BRIEF HISTORY OF EXPERIENCE =-

~~~~~~~~~~
2003-2007
Metalförge
Montevideo, Uruguay
Bass & backing vocals - songwriter, co-founder
Classic NWOBHM style, with strong influences from Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Black Sabbath, and others.
~~~~~~~~~~
2008-present (hiatus since 2010)
Permanent Faves
London, UK
Bass

RUSH tribute band, mostly for fun and rehearsing not very often (even less so in the past 2-3 years). At the height of our project, we very pleased with it and were getting some gigs when we could. There are videos of rehearsals up on YouTube, some of which I linked to in this profile.

~~~~~~~~~~
2008-2009
Killing Kate
London, UK
Bass
Possibly the coolest band I've been part of. Hard rock style with heavy Deep Purple and Dio influence. You can still find some tracks at the guitarist's MySpace: http://www.myspace/mattlovemusic
~~~~~~~~~~
2009-2010 (plus one-off reunion gig in 2012)
Island Three
Birmingham, UK
Bass

An alternative "new prog" indie-like band. Influences of Oceansize, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater and others. You can hear stuff at the band's website: http://www.islandthree

-= IMPORTANT NOTES =-

I am very very committed (music is my main passion), but I do have other full-time responsibilities. I am extremely loyal and will go anywhere for the band I'm in and I love, but all within my own limits. Please don't expect anything crazy - I like to live life a little as well.

-= WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR =-

Being very honest and concise, I'd like to join any band that:

1) Sounds GOOD (regardless of its genre!). If you're just one more band like all others out there, I will probably not be interested. Music has to have meaning and expression. If I can't feel those things in your music, I don't think I will do well playing it.

2) Is committed and works hard.

3) Actually achieves results. Working hard is essential, but sadly not enough: I want a band that actually gets the ball rolling, gets gigs, support, etc. Even if slowly, that’s better than accomplishing close to nothing and not moving from the same position...

-= WHAT I DEFINITELY *DON'T* WANT =-
(PLEASE READ THIS!)

- People with their heads up their asses.
- People who would treat me simply as "that musician who plays for us". If things are going to be that way, then I expect some compensation.
- People with their heads up their asses.
- "Indie rock" bands (i.e. "guitar pop rock" or similar genres), especially if you sound like all others.
- PEOPLE WITH THEIR HEADS UP THEIR ASSES.
