ABOUT

Singer-Songwriter | 19 | Hull

My name’s Luke, I’m a 19-year-old singer-songwriter and guitarist from Hull. Music is not just something I do — it’s who I am. Every song I write and sing comes from a place of honesty, reflection, and the drive to express something real.

I’m self-taught on the guitar, playing for around a year, but I’ve already poured myself fully into it. I’ve had the opportunity to play and record with the CEO of Becks & Clates, and that experience showed me the importance of surrounding myself with people who are truly committed. That’s why I’m here — not to take part, but to take over. This is my dream, and I’m ready to do whatever it takes to make it happen.

I’m building towards releasing my own songs, but I’m also open to joining a band. What matters to me is that the music means something — that it has weight, emotion, and power. I want the world to hear my songs, or if I join a band, to hear the effect we create together. For me, music has to matter.

On a personal level, I’m someone who sees life deeply. I’ve been through hard times, loss, and struggles, and that fuels everything I write. I see the world as a place of beauty and pain, light and darkness, and I want my music to reflect that balance. I don’t just want to play notes — I want to move people, to leave something behind that lives longer than I do.

I’m driven, passionate, and one of the most committed people you’ll meet. I’m available every day, and I’ll give everything I’ve got to the music. Whether it’s my own songs or a shared vision in a band, I’m here to make it happen.

If you’re looking for someone serious about their craft, who wants to make an impact and isn’t afraid to give their all, then let’s connect.

I’m not here to take part — I’m here to take over. Music is my life, my way of speaking truth, and my dream is to make the world feel something real.”

Influences

My first musical hit was Oasis — Half the World Away was the first song that actually made me feel something. I heard it as the cover in a John Lewis ad and it lodged in me. My dad’s liking for the song The Masterplan gave me a natural place to cling to Oasis as I grew into music from about 15 onwards. That early pull for melody and simple, enormous feeling set the tone for everything I chase now.

But my primary, defining influence is Richard Ashcroft and The Verve. The Verve are my favourite band of all time. Richard’s songwriting showed me that lyrics can be both immediate and mysterious — lines that feel like prayers, confessions, and questions all at once. He taught me that a voice doesn’t have to be “perfect” to be devastatingly powerful; it just needs conviction and truth. That ragged honesty in his delivery — the way he holds a line, the pauses, the breath — is everything I strive for. Nick McCabe’s guitar work is equally important to me: his textures, the space he gives to noise and melody, and the way he paints whole landscapes with a phrase inspired me to think of the guitar not just as rhythm/lead but as a colour palette.

Seeing Richard live for the first time with my dad was a turning point. When he played “The Drugs Don’t Work,” I felt something break open. A few months later, seeing Oasis and Richard on the same bill at Heaton Park was the best day of my life — a collision of the music that made me and the people who made it. Those nights didn’t just entertain me: they named a path. They told me what I wanted to be doing with my life, and that I could aim to be that kind of voice.

On top of that direct lineage, I’m inspired by players capable of clearing a landscape. Johnny Cash taught me how simplicity can be terrifyingly honest.
