ABOUT
Kizzy J is a British born saxophonist/pianist playing a wide variety of genres from rock, pop to jazz, boogie woogie and funk. She is the daughter of jazz trumpeter, pianist Alasdair Jeffrey. She began playing at age four, with a surprise visit to her family home by one of her piano idols Alton Purnell, a renouned jazz pianist from New Orleans. She has performed globally with many revered musicians.
Kizzy J studied at the Glasgow Academy of Performing Arts and is a graduate of the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. As a much sought after performer her love of music has taken her from her home in Scotland to perform in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Oman, Dubai, The United States of America and beyond. Kizzy J has had the pleasure of working with B.B King, James Gadson, Nile Rodgers to name but a few.
Fun fact - James Gadson described Kizzy J’s playing as ‘greasy’ which she originally took as an insult but it turned out that it was a huge compliment.
Having relocated back to the UK, Kizzy J has spent the last 10 years actively working with a variety of Scotland’s premier bands and is happy to expand her horizons and welcomes new musical opportunities.
