KITES are an alt/indie rock band based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, and have been making waves in the Northeast indie circuit since their formation in 2019, quickly gaining the attention of the local music scene playing sold out shows at iconic venues like The Cluny, ThinkTank, World Headquarters, and Sunderland’s The Independent.
The band has been working tirelessly to cement themselves among the new pioneers of the indie rock scene, supporting acclaimed bands such as JAWS and The Native on their UK tours, and building a loyal local following thanks to their undeniable talent, energetic performances, and incredibly photogenic bassist. KITES are best described as a potent cocktail of grunge-tainted indie rock - emanating nostalgia while pushing the boundaries of the genre.
Their latest single ‘Chilly Road’ is inspired by the rapidly growing problem of homelessness in the North East. The song aims to help raise awareness for the hundreds of people living in our communities who do not have a place to call home. All the proceeds from the track are being donated to local homeless charities. The track featured on BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio, and continues to gain attention from other industry leaders.
The band are currently gearing up to release their next single ‘Innocence and Gold in March 2024.
