Band to Join, Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Keyboard.

I’m moving to York in September to start a PhD and one of my all time biggest regrets at university has been neglecting my passion for music. So I’m currently looking for band members to form a unique progressive/experimental rock outfit based in the York/Leeds/Hull area, who have their own gear and if based outside of York and are willing to travel (equally I’m prepared to travel too – whatever’s logistically most convenient). Ideally I’m looking for people around my age bracket (20’s) but its not like this is a strict requirement.

I’m a bassist originally who has since taken up the drums and guitar, but as such I would be looking to play bass as it is the instrument I’m most technically proficient in.

I’m looking for not only very technically competent players, but also innately musical ones who will each bring their own flare and ideas to the band, and musically challenge each other to create something bigger than any one of us.

The musical direction I hope to follow is complex yet melodic music inspired by some of the heavier side of prog metal, as well as the lighter aspects of alt rock, so catchy melodies, a few odd time signatures and scales/modes etc, and a BIG dynamical and stylistic variety.

I have written a few songs myself which I would like to expand upon once a line up is obtained, and would provide a good springboard into new music by writing new material together and hopefully improving and altering the tunes I’ve put together already – as I say I’m not proficient enough on guitar to really write the level of music I’d like to be a part of but I think I have some solid ideas to build on. A link to some shoddily recorded demos and midi rips from guitar pro can be found at: https://soundcloud/jrkulmerdemos/sets

If this resonates with you get in touch and hopefully we can meet up and get jamming in September proper, if not for a few one-off sessions beforehand!
