Hey! I'm Joe, an experienced professional electric bass player and composer from East Sussex.
A bit about me!
I'm well read. Having studied music classically I have gained an extensive vocabulary of musical knowledge, both in performance and compositional techniques. The electric bass is where I feel the most comfortable expressing these abilities to lead the ensemble where necessary, and vitally hold the rhythm section together
Performance is paramount. I'm a performer - stage presence is my speciality, having gained experience playing in the three piece Indie-Rock band 'Camber' in addition to a range of jazz, soul and funk bands, being a bright and active member of the performance is where I thrive.
Any genre goes. I'm fortunate enough to have played in a wide range of ensembles, ranging from grunge and heavy metal bands, intricate jazz fusion trios, reggae, samba and world bands, all the way to acoustic country and folk groups, and so have gained experience and vocabulary on the instrument to be able to play in each of these settings.
With this said, my most comfortable genres are modern jazz, funk, pop, soul and rock - but am happy to assist in any form of performance!
One simple request. I'm very blessed to be in a position where I am largely available for session work - I do however have one strong commitment which is to Camber as a trio. As this band is signed and quickly rising, this will be a commitment that I place above all others, simply down to the fact that as a third of the band it remains my main career pursuit. With this said, working around the band is absolutely possible, and hours can be discussed.
