ABOUT

"Back with a casual vengeance, Tomiskid emerge with their enigmatic splendour.

Formerly recognised as The Vouch, the new title ‘Tomiskid’ eludes their unique attitudes and strangely infectious phrases; taking them right back to where it all began… “We’ll still sit on the bank drinking Carling cans….”

With their tattered appearance, consistent alcohol supply and bizarre intelligence, Tomiskid will be trickling down the insides of your legs from here on out.

The boys’ recent exploits at A-bomb studios saw the creation of ‘Cannock Chavs’ . The casual strut of this debut may deem completely hilarious however, beyond its witty exterior lies something a little more.

The Mike Skinner-esque texture, simple melody and trademark swag leaves us surrendering to this clever gimmick.

The fundamentals of any successful band are distortedly apparent within Tomiskid, and with very little effort this can be appreciated.

So what do we love about these “5 lads from Cannock, Hednesford...”? Well, it’s just that. Five lads from a fairly dismal (and I’m being kind here) place that accentuates a point of no return for most of its residence.

Tomiskid embrace this, not wanting to escape but ready and willing to infest the world with the callous cries of Cannock.

The bands appearance is something to behold; a precarious blend of kept and unkempt all echoing the 'Burton / Booze / Birds' label thrown at them a few years earlier. If the intention was malice, "Ay Bovered": It works!

Tomiskid's beautifully sordid lyrics paint a picture of everyday life. From the age of 17 they've taken you on a journey, from the lust and love for women to the aftermaths of medicated nights out.

"Never Gonna Drink Again" reflects the quality of Oasis, once upon a time. The story-telling melody lingers on your tongue creating an accidental anthem.
The likes of "Down Days" stands up for a man’s side of a break-up; a side that is often overlooked. Here it is presented with a casual arrogance amidst an infectious pulse, “When I'm a 10 out of 10 and you're only an 8”.

Coming back to their more recent material, Tomiskid ventured into the studio just last week producing 'Ten Ben Men'. This new sound rivals The Libertines fast-paced musical composition and the harmonies are performed without comparison; a delicate melody juxtaposing the fire-crackling drum beat.

Some of the song titles; such as the mentioned 'Ten Ben Men' and 'Myles and Toms Picnic' are questionable yet written with intent. The drive to make the unconventional conventional seeps through this bands persona.

Tomiskid are a reflection of untapped talent and ignorance.
These five childhood friends reflect what indie was, what indie is and what indie should be!"
