ABOUT

Irreverent, engaging front-man. guitar-picker, vocaliser and songmonger. Main interest; my band SUBWAY ROCKETS. Find us and like us! I am always keen to make contact with other local musicians, for whatever reason; maybe I could help you record a demo, or you could help us make a video. Maybe we could collaborate on writing a song. We are very open to other musicians joining us for a few songs to add variety to our set. Or maybe I could come to see you play live and make encouraging comments! I take the guitar seriously when practicing, and lightly when playing.

Influences

Edgy and/or lively stuff, not anthems or ballads, or those angsty "beautiful" songs - more punky, funky, poppy, bluesy... We like doing unexpected versions of pop hits; we do rocking versions of "Single Ladies", "I Kissed a Girl" and "Sex Bomb" as well as the stuff you might expect from our demographic - Bowie, Oasis, Clash, Killers and Taylor Swift (!). Dave the bass player is a Mod and loves Jam and Paul Weller. He used to be in a proper band called "The Mods".

I like Catatonia, Ian Dury, Rage Against the Machine, Kate Bush, Muse, Stevie-Ray Vaughan, The Tubes, Talking Heads, UK Subs, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Cockney Rejects, Third Bass, Misty in Roods, Trombone Shorty, Flaming Lips, Pavement, Penetration, The Buzzcocks and The Undertones. And Sinead O'Connor, Amy Winehouse, Oasis, MSI...... etc etc.

EQUIPMENT

Many sick electric twangers, including obvs. a Les Paul a Strat and a Tele. A few valve amps, mostly Marshalls including the brilliant and much misunderstood Origin 50, a funky pedal board, three PA systems of various sizes (Don't ask!!) and a zillion cables...!
