ABOUT

I am very dedicated to putting on as good a professional show as possible. I am a vocalist who has revived the love of guitars and will play live guitar over top class backing tracks. Each song has individual tracks that can be muted for live musicians. I have nearly 50 years experience and I have been involved with so many genres, including, Musical Theatre, ships, travelling cabaret, resident band at Haven and Park Resorts. I have played in pop bands, covered everything from Opera to Heavy Metal. I had a short stint as lead singer with a band in Germany but I had no knowledge of the language so I decided to leave as it was unfair to expect people to speak English whilst they are in their own country.
I am looking for a female vocalist with a voice that can last on occasion three hours of singing, but don’t worry at least half the lead vocals will be shared with me. I began singing in the style of whatever song came up next, audiences liked it and I found my niche, I have been accused of miming on various occasions which I suppose is a backhanded compliment. It always made me smile when I sang the last note of
Con Te Partiro then straight into Hit Me Baby One More Time (I can do a mean Britney). I miss the duo gigs and think it will be nice to have an easy going singer with a good sense of humour to take over the lead female songs or swap around songs and who knows how to dress appropriately according to the venue and/or event, (e.g. No Jeans and T-Shirts onstage for weddings). Image is not my top priority, I’m not looking for a gorgeous looking woman who has to rely on how pretty she is rather than how she can sing although I’m certainly not against anyone lucky who has exceptional talent and can sing. I’m sorry if that isn’t P.C. I have seen it so often in both male and female vocalists looks don’t last forever but a good and well nurtured set of pipes can get even better with age if well looked after. Please do not let any of the above intimidate you, I am actually a very polite and easy going man so even if you feel you lack the confidence but honestly think you know or can learn 30+ songs, which if necessary I will guide you through it will be worth a shot and if everything clicks I promise that I will make sure you will enjoy the experience. It will be a good starting point if you lack confidence because I know around 300 songs vocally and the addition of another vocalist and live guitars will bring,an extra dimension. If you can play an instrument whether it’s guitar, saxophone, trombone, violin, triangle, kazoo, etc I will do my best to add it to the set. Although I started out as a guitarist I have spent most of my music career as a lead singer, I did my first gig when I was 14 years old and since then I must have done 3,000 to 4,000 gigs or more. I also request that whether it’s a meet up or a studio session especially at first that you bring someone with you to make you feel comfortable, that will also apply to gigs but please no jealous partners, that applies to anyone of any age and even though most of this very long description is aimed at younger women I would rather at first you do the same unless you are happy to travel with just me. you must also like dogs because unless I can get a dog sitter they will be coming with me and they are not small. I will always look after you onstage should someone shoot their mouth off, and there will be no need to worry as over the years I have learned how to deal with crude remarks. I will not put up with anything inappropriate whether it is aimed towards you or me, it’s usually in pubs and on rare occasions clubs which is why from Easter until September I prefer holiday parks and it will be possible that I will know some of the regulars and and if they like you they may ask us to sit with them. I feel at every gig we are not only working onstage but the whole time are at the venue as not only does it get them on our side making the 2nd half of the performance part of the night so much easier and sometimes they buy drinks for us (whoopee!) but unless we have to stay over, ( which especially if you are young, your partner/family may prefer to accompany us) I will not touch alcohol as I’m only a social drinker and can take it or leave it so there’s no worries there. know I am a decent person but your loved ones may feel more at ease if they bring someone along for as long as you feel the need to as there will be times we will be travelling further afield and if needed I will get police checked to show that I have never been in trouble, not even a speeding fine. My mother bless her wouldn’t tolerate bad manners or any kind of misconduct so looking past the long hair which I tie back at most gigs, there lives a very polite and respectful person. I never drink alcohol unless you are able to drive the van. However, I have insomnia so it may be better if I drive home because I have to warn you that I used to have to do an 18 hour day by the time the previous duo guitarist and I arrived in for example Norfolk. We usually arrived at least 4 hours before we performed which gave us time to set the gear up, soundcheck and if needed sort out any problems then get something to eat and if available we could get a free caravan to rest up and change even if we don’t need to stay overnight. I have heard some great voices on this site, but one great sounding song immaculately delivered is fine but I need someone who can at least make a a good performance of a minimum of 5+ songs at the first meeting ¨. I have a list of songs so pick 5 you think you can handle but don’t worry if on the day nerves get the better of you, I’m not a tyrant and I will never give negative comments as so many musicians do who can’t grasp that a sore throat or even a cold can make singing difficult. However unless you already have a set of songs you can sing without the words in front of you on a music stand you will need to put in the work to build a good repertoire of music before the gigs are booked. I am in no hurry to gig until we are near as good that we possibly can be and can only get better. As mentioned above, if you do form one half of the duo it will be a nice and stress free learning curve should you eventually want to move on to somewhere you may consider a better option. I have given vocal tuition in the past should you want to consider having them free of charge of course. I have received vocal tuition in opera, heavy rock/metal easy listening, musical theatre and popular music. I am very much hoping that whoever you are out there, experienced or not, together we will make wonderful music together and also have some good laughs.
