ABOUT
Rock Bass and Guitar to a workmanlike standard. Backing vocals generally get there with some nuturing. Committed, capable player and a grafter, but like my woodshed time, not being the type who excels when busking off a chord sheet.
I feel like I've hardly put my instrument down in 5 years, but that hasn't paid off in live experience; I have only ever played in unstable hobby bands, going intermittent small party and pub gigs. I switched over from guitar to bass after long hiatus from playing music, wheb COVID left an opening in a friend's band. Now looking for something more stable.
Looking for semiregular gigging, intermittent tours, or local fests. No expectations of payment, just want to play, meet cool peeps and hang out. No preferences for covers or originals (always eager to jam or collab on songs and parts, but not a songwriter).

Influences
In bass technique, I'm more a creature of instinct than a follower of influences. Equally skilled with finger and pick, practice both. Not a slap fan, but learning the rudiments now.
Capable rock "rhythm" and fingerstyle guitarist, fast enough with the right hand, flexible on the left, but my thrash metal downstrokes and black metal alternates would probably need some rehabilitation.
I have broad, Fantano-esque listening habits and elder-millenial tastes. But I play "rock" and enjoy most metal, grunge, goth and punk subgenres as well as the usual classic rock stuff.
I admire melodic but unpretentious bassists with prominent tones, and I like a "riffy", mid-tempo tune.
So... Duff, Cliff, Lemmy, Hooky, Geezer, Jack Bruce, New Model Army, IDLES, Stranglers, Kyuss, Type O, F of the Neph, Tool, AiC, Thin Lizzy, Dry Cleaning, Grand Magus, Green Lung, Muse, Delta 5, The Coathangers, The Cure...

EQUIPMENT
Ashdown ABM amp and 2*12 cab, couple of serviceable 5-strings, couple pawn shop guitars, A bass VI and a ridiculously oversized, overcomplicated pedalboard. No guitar amp could borrow or buy as needed. Not having played that much guitar of late, I've gone digital and I'm pretty pro silent stage, having some past experience with IEMs and playing to click.
