I'm an experienced mature keyboard player. I grew up playing classical music and got into jazz in my teens. In my early 20s I really got into jazz funk/fusion (Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett etc) and at this time worked as a professional musician for several years playing mainly this type of music.
Although I’ve listed myself as playing ‘Just for fun’ I do take playing music very seriously.
Now I’m retired I’m always looking for other good musicians with whom to collaborate. This is mainly with a view to enjoying playing together but I do get a lot out of performing and I’m always keen to get a few regular gigs. Although it’s nice to be paid, it’s not my main object. Playing in a nice venue to an appreciative audience is much more important to me.
These days I like to play jazz standards, Latin flavoured tunes, jazz funk/fusion (typically repertoire form the 70’s). I like playing classical music but this is strictly for my own consumption!
