I have worked on the London jazz scene since my mid-20s and played with many excellent musicians over the years. I split my career between musician and working as a nutritionist in the aid sector over the past 40 years during which I worked in Roland Perrins World jazz band 'Evidence' for 15 years and then formed my own band Just East of Jazz (now Just East) which has been working and touring since the mid 1990s. With my colleague Rick Finlay I have also run a jazz club in north London for 15 years forming part of the house band and inviting guests for each performance. I am looking for a pianist to collaborate with who is interested in composing and playing together. I write a lot of music and would love to work with someone to develop it. Influences
My influences are everyone from Sidney Bechet to Michael Brecker and Chris Potter. I like jazz from all eras and also listen to a lot of contemporary music whether this is pop, funk, indie, world, etc. Am currently listening to a lot of Emmet Coihen, Tiny Desk, Cory Wong and Scary Pockets.
