Band to Join.

Update September 2016

It is with a heavy heart that after 3 glorious years drumming in a fabulous Blues, Soul & Rock n' Roll covers band and playing some amazing and memorable gigs. That the band have called it time and I'm back on the market and looking for the next project.

The tracks and video are from my previous band, these will give you an idea of what I was playing until recently. I also designed and maintained the band website www.stateoftheark.uk and recorded and edited the taster video.

If you haven't or don't want to go and pay for Bandmix pro (and who would want to, for £10 you can get Netflix and have some change left over) go to my old website above and there is email contact details there (as Bandmix won't allow you to advertise an email address).

I'm Iain and I'm a drummer looking for a band.
Any style of music considered, originals or covers.
I have played in Scottish Traditional bands, pop covers bands, classic rock bands and for the last 3 years a fabulous Blues, soul & Rock n' Roll covers band. I have a steady non flashy style. I can pick up most parts very quickly. I have a very wide taste in music and fully supportive of anything as long as it can be played live by folk that are having fun.
I was playing regularly until I moved to Aberdeen 15 years ago. Moved back to Dunfermline 8 years ago and have been out playing again for the last 6 years.I am 46 and not looking to join a bunch of 16 year olds out to conquer the world, but a group of like minded individuals looking to have fun (Mid Life Crisis but can't afford a Porche).
I ‘m based in the Duloch area of Dunfermline, I have my own transport and Pro gear (see below).
I can commit to one night a week for a practice (more if required before a gig) and gigging when required.
I could even be talked into to doing a spot of background vocal. (I may regret that last bit!!)

I have many influences (in no order) from the 70's pomp of ELO and Rainbow, to the rock/blues/folk elements of Led Zep (don't get excited I'm no Bonzo). To the power chord riffs of Black Sabbath (Bill Ward was always a very musical drummer). To the live excitement of Big Country (I'm no Brzezicki either). The folk/rock musings of the Waterboys and Levellers. The Seattle sound of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.The song writing brilliance of the Finn Brothers in all their incarnations. To the balls to the wall brilliance of Scott era AC/DC. The pop/pub rock of INXS and for just being an amazing live band Depeche Mode (Violator is in my top 5). Mellencamp, Petty, B B King, Joe Bonamassa, John Lee Hooker, Z Z Top, Hendrix, Seger, Silverchair, Powderfinger, Buddy Guy, SRV (Chris Layton is a personal fav), Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Vintage Trouble, Rival Sons, The World & Jazz mash up that is The Cat Empire, the jam band brilliance of the John Butler Trio, Any Stax or Motown and anything by Sam & Dave, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett. I could go on all night and not even scratch the surface, but since this is the about 30th time I have written this out I'm going to stop before I go proggy with Genesis, Marillion etc.
